Worldwide trends on Cistanche species in 1968-2016[ ]

Cistanche provides benefits not only to desert control but also to the economy because this plant exhibits a high medicinal value and grows under drought conditions. This study aimed to comprehensively analyse Cistanche species by using a visual method based on data from Web of Science (WoS). Bibliometrics and network analysis were employed to investigate various items, including countries, institutions, and frequently cited articles and keywords from 272 articles about Cistanche in 1968–2016. Results showed an increase in the number of Cistanche-related published documents, and China is the leading country with 175 documents.

Genotypic evidence of infection by Canine Distemper Virus in maned wolf from a zoological collection in Chile[ ]

Canine Distemper is one of the most important viral diseases described in domestic carnivores. However, with the passage of time, this disease has taken great relevance in wild animals. Thus, there are numerous international reports where several species such as wolves, foxes, ferrets, bears, seals and lions have been affected by this disease. In the month of April 2013, four maned wolves (Chrysocyon brachyurus) belonging to a zoo collection died presenting a clinical signology concordant with that produced by the distemper virus.

Modelling oil spill trajectory and the Geo - Spatial exposure of Communities in Niger Delta, Nigeria[ ]

Digital Elevation Model 30 by 30 meters was analyzed using Arc GIS 9.3 tools to classify the area for the understanding of the terrain dynamics amidst its undulating surface. Potential direction, sinks of spilled oil was modelled using ArcSWAT. Findings revealed that the direction/trend of spill results in the vulnerability of communities with the population density of 1:240 persons per km2.

Identification of Road Traffic Accident Hotspots in the Cape Coast Metropolis, Southern Ghana Using Geographic Information System (GIS)[ ]

Road traffic accidents (RTAs) and its associated injuries are one of the major causes of death in developing countries. Some researchers blame illiteracy especially among commercial drivers while others mention the poor nature of the road as the cause of this menace. In recent years, road traffic accidents in Ghana have become a major social problem in the world as one writer put it “carriage without horses shall go and accident fill the world with woe”.

IMPACT OF PERCEIVED SERVICE QUALITY ON CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AND CUSTOMER LOYALTY WITH MEDIATION OF BRAND IMAGE[ ]

While there have been numerous studies on the antecedents and consequences of service quality, there has been little investigation of the moderators of brand image. This study investigates how service quality could effects on customer satisfaction and customer loyalty with moderation of brand image. 400 questionnaires were distributed among target audience and 355 questionnaires were returned back and final analysis consists of 339 respondents. Based on a survey in banking sector in Pakistan, the author obtained the following findings.

ASSESMENT OF LAND USE CONFLICT IN GWAGWALADA TOWN, FCT-ABUJA[ ]

Land use conflict occurs when there are conflicts on a particular land use leading to land misuse. The aim of this study was to identify Land use conflicts in some selected Areas in Gwagwalada town. Primary source of data used for the research include Questionnaire, interview, and field observation, while secondary data gotten from Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) on master plan provision of Gwagwalada was used to confirm the conflict status. A stratified systematic sampling technique was employed in administering the questionnaire.

Voltage Control and Load Sharing In DC Distribution Systems with Three Phase AC Machines[ ]

In this paper describes the excellent control strategy of voltage droop characteristics based on load sharing concept for multiple DC sources. The input is given to the two dc sources are 800V, 800V and by using DC-DC converters. The voltage values are stepped down to 364V by using PID controller the voltage is constant at the load side. The two converters of the bus voltages are shared by the ratio of -1/50 and -1/100. By using inverter DC voltages are converted into AC voltages that inverter voltage is given to the Induction motor and a Permanent Magnet Synchronous motor.

Speciation Analyses and Mobility study of Zn, Cd and Cr in Soils around Municipal Solid Waste Dumpsites in Benin City[ ]

The mobility of zinc (Zn), cadmium (Cd) and chromium (Cr) in soils around municipal solid waste dumpsites in Benin metropolis, Nigeria was assessed using sequential chemical extraction procedure for metal speciation. Total concentration levels of heavy metals were carried out using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). Results from the chemical fractionation analyses showed that the analysed heavy metals were more abundant in their non-bioavailable fractions amongst the defined geochemical forms with the residual fraction dominating the stabile fractions.

AFRICAN LITERARY PERSPECTIVES - BETWEEN ACTIVISM AND REALISM: A REFLECTION ON SELECTED AFRICAN WORKS[ ]

The belief that Africa lost her paradise shortly after gaining independence is not far-fetched. The desire to wrest power from the hands of the colonial masters threw up a feeling of African solidarity and activism perhaps unmatched by any other part of the world.

One-pot Palladium-Catalyzed Synthesis And Antifungal Properties of Polycarbo- substituted Furo[3,2-c]quinolines[ ]

A series of 2,6,8-triarylquinolin-4(1H)-ones were functionalized when treated with molecular iodine in the presence of sodium carbonate in tetrahydrofuran to afford the requisite 2,6,8-triaryl-3-iodoquinolin-4(1H)-ones. The latter were then subjected to two-step Sonogashira cross-coupling and tandem heteroannulation reaction with terminal alkynes in the presence of Pd(0)-CuI with triethylamine as a base in DMF-H2O mixture to afford exclusively the 2-substituted 4,6,8-triarylfuro[3,2-c]quinolines in a one-pot operation. The prepared polycarbo-substituted furoquinolines were subjected to preliminary screening for antimicrobial susceptibility. All the new compounds were characterized using a combination of 1H NMR, 13C NMR and IR spectroscopic and mass spectrometry techniques.

Processing Control of Organic Functional Materials[ ]

The research involved the hands on work experience of inorganic functional materials (Solar cells), to enhanced the crystalline morphology in organic semiconducting materials, preparing solutions of polymer - P3HT by varying the solvents and the solvent/solute ratio, producing thin films of polymers via drop casting, spin coating and water casting and finally to investigate the reasons for the spherulitic structures present in P3HT - decalin samples at 0.1 mg/ml mass-volume ratio.

Estimation of Runoff with respect toTemporal and Spatial Land use changes in Cochin Urban Agglomerate, India: A case-study of 2018 flood[ ]

Urban flash flooding is a common scenario in the recent years. As a fast growing Tier-II metro, Greater Cochin,Kerala experiences rapid increase of impervious surfaces since last five decades. During the S-W monsoon of 2018 Kerala state witnessed intense flooding and landslides. Cochin urban area undergone severe urban pluvial flooding during the same event.
