MANAGEMENT PLAN OF MAN-MADE LAKES (RESERVOIRS) IN EDO STATE NIGERIA[ ]


The deficiency of protein in Nigeria has necessitated looking inwards for increased fish production. Brackish water resources are declining and production from ponds is still insignificant to the level of protein needed by the populace. Lake Fishery has been found to provide the needed protein. Man-made lakes abound throughout the country but most of them are not regulated and there are no policies for the management of these lakes especially the man-made lakes in Edo State. To realize the benefits from reservoir fisheries we must learn how best to manage these reservoirs.

The impact of Equipped and Un-Equipped Schools on Teaching Learning Process[ ]


The main purpose of the study was to compare institutional facilities provided at public and private schools in Pakistan. The study was quantitative technique used. The researcher developed frequency table for collection of data. The researcher visited 4 randomly selected schools (2public & 2 private) to collect the data. These schools were randomly selected from Karachi. The school teachers were selected as respondents. The results of the study show that private schools provided better facilities as compared to public schools. The researcher recommended that Govt, should provide all the basic facilities for students and teachers.

Marikina-Infanta Highway or MARILAQUE highway which stands for Marikina-Rizal-Laguna-Quezon, is a highway that starts in Marikina and goes all the way to the Sierra Madre Mountain Ranges of Rizal, Laguna, and, finally, to Infanta, Quezon. The overall resolution of this research is to conduct an engineering geological study on the area in Tanay, Rizal along MARILAQUE highway. The area traverses parts of Barangay Cayumbay where rockfalls are a major problem.

A Lower Conversion Ratio based IBC with Fuzzy PI Control[ ]


In conventional buck converter, the conversion ratio or the duty cycle is greater than 40% which leads to higher conversion ratio, having discontinuous current and high electromagnetic interference. In order to minimize these above mentioned disadvantages in conventional interleaved converter, a new topology based on artificial intelligence is introduced in this paper. The proposed IBC works in closed loop control with fuzzy accompanied by Proportional-Integral controller which helps to regulate the desired output values at most accurate. The output value is thoroughly verified by the controller unit through a feedback from the output of proposed converter and if there is a change in desired value, the system precisely controls the duty cycle in the converter. The MATLAB software is used to carry out simulations in which the Simulink model were discussed in detail in order to evaluate the overall performance of the converter.

In-Bore Pressure Measurement: Application of MEMS Piezoelectric Sensor for Mortar Launch Vehicle[ ]


MEMS(Microelectromechanical system) is a technology that is ruling the industry by the production of different sensors and actuators. Pressure sensors are one of the most widely used micro-devices, around 25 million pressure sensors are manufactured every year for different applications. In the proposed context, a Piezoelectric pressure sensor using PZT (Lead Zirconate Titanate) is designed, and the Stress, Displacement, Electric potential and Frequency parameters of the sensor are analyzed using a software tool called COMSOL Multiphysics. The sensor frequency is then matched with the application where the in-bore pressure of a mortar is measured and found to be 3.6Mhz.

Influence of Boron Addition and Heat Treatment on the Mechanical Properties of 7050 Al Alloy[ ]


In this study, the effect of boron content as a grain refiner on the structural and the mechanical properties of 7050 aluminum alloy was investigated. Three different amount of boron was selected as 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5 wt.%B with two different holding time (H.T) for boron in the furnace before pouring the cast, 20 and 30min. The results revealed that the addition of boron highly affected the grain size structure changed the dendritic structure of the as-cast alloys into the equiaxed structure. Solution heat treatment was carried out to all samples before tensile testing.

Optimizing MAC Layer Performance based on Machine learning with Localized AI[ ]


Energy consumption, end to end communication delay, jitter in delay, the packet delivery ratio (PDR) and communication throughput are the primary parameters which define the performance of any Medium Access Control (MAC) layer used in wireless communication systems. Optimization of these key parameters is the main aim of any network designer. In this paper, we propose machine learning based Artificial Intelligence (AI) approach for improvement of the mentioned parameters using localized learning. Localized learning ensures that all the network learning is done locally on the node, and there are no privacy issues in the network. The proposed AI based algorithm takes into consideration the network parameters and suggests a solution which is best suited in order to optimize the mentioned primary output performance parameters. The AI layer incorporates the use of Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA), Bit Map Assisted (BMA) and Sensor-MAC (SMAC) protocols, and by tuning the parameters of these protocols; suggests the best tuned protocol suited for the given network conditions. We tested the system under various network configurations and obtained an overall performance uplift of more than 20% across all the output key parameters.

Theoretical investigation of thermodynamic, transport and structural properties of Au-Ag liquid alloy at different temperature`[ ]


Thermodynamic properties, transport properties and structural properties have been calculated using regular solution model. The interaction energy is temperature dependent and played an important role to explain the properties of Au-Ag liquid alloy at different temperatures. The theoretical values of interchange energy at different temperatures are obtained by best fit parameter approximation with the experimental values at 1350K. The study found that the alloy is ordering in nature.

The Paper discusses the development of an accident prediction model based on regression analysis. It is attempted to develop accident model. Vijayawada city is taken as case study. The data set which is mainly fatal accidents and total accidents for Vijayawada city is brought from “Traffic Police Department”. Accident data are related to hourly classified traffic volume per lane extracted from classified traffic volume count survey of Vijayawada city. A liner regression model is developed in this study exhibits satisfactory goodness-offit and prediction success rate.

The Clay ShaleDurability Behavior of Jatiluhur Formation Based on Dynamic and Static Slaking Indices[ ]


The mechanical properties of Clay Shale are very unique. When it is dry, it shrinks and hardens, but when it absorbs water, it swells and to some extent loses its shear strength so that the drop-in strength can occur suddenly even with its own weight. Due to the nature of the swell-shrink that are strongly influenced by climate and weather, clay shale durability may decrease over time when in direct contact with air and water. Research on clay shale was done in Sentul City, Bogor - West Java, Indonesia on Jatiluhur formation, using dynamic slaking (slake durability test) and slaking static test.

Study of problems of private secondary Schools subject teachers in the integration of ICT in teaching[ ]


The objective of this research paper is to examine the effects of various factors like infrastructure, IT ICT (information technolo-gy)Trainings, management support and Teacher interest on integration of ICT (information communication technology)in subject teaching. For analysis primary data has been used. Regression and correlation are used as analytical tools for the empirical estimation. This study finds that the management support and teachers interest in ICT (information communication technology) are statically significant factors with a positive sign. Moreover, the infrastructure and teachers IT training has also be found to be statically significant factors with negative sign. This study uses primary data collected by subject teachers of 10 secondary private schools of Lyari town. Results suggest that in order to implement ICT (information communication technology) in subject teaching, the management should ensure the proper infrastructure of computer lab with quarterly preplanned Teachers Trainings regarding ICT (information communication technology), so the teachers will show positive attitude towards technology aided learning.

Design and Construction of a Plastic Shredder Machine for Recycling and Management of Plastic Wastes[ ]


This research work is aimed at solving the problems of plastic wastes management in developing countries. In this study, we designed and constructed a plastic shredding machine. The machine consists of the following main components; hopper assembly, shredding chamber, drive shaft, frame, V-belts, and an electric motor. The machine was evaluated for performance using generated plastic wastes in the environment of Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun, Nigeria. The results obtained show that the machine has a hopper capacity of 0.066m3, centrifugal tension of 9.74N, maximum tension of 229.5N, shredding force of 680.547N, shaft diameter of 29.5mm, bending stress of 86MPa, shearing stress of 42MPa, and torque of 29.21Nm. Also determined was the total force acting on the flywheel which was gotten as 728.367N, equivalent bending moment of 210.35Nm, and forces acting on the pulley as 478.63N. The performance evaluation of the machine gave a result of 98.44% shredding efficiency, a shredding rate of 0.575kg/s. The shredded plastic wastes has a size ranging between 10mm to 20mm.

This paper investigates the structural response of wide span structures where the primary structural system is cable-stayed roof, and aims at optimizing the design of such structures. Finite element analysis is carried out using commercial software taking into consideration the nonlinear formulation of cables.
