Influence of Cryogenic Processing on Microstructure and Properties of En8 Steel[Full-Text ]
Mansi M Lakhani, Niyati RautEn8 steel is most commonly used steel in applications like gears, bolts, pins, studs, etc. These applications of En8 material requires it to be readily machinable and at the same time posses sufficiently high amount of hardness and strength. Conventional heat treatment process that is used to enhance the mechanical properties of En8 steel consists of quenching and tempering. Cryogenic processing consists of quenching the material, then treating it at temperature as low as –193°C., followed by tempering of material. The existing literature confirms that cryogenic processing results in enhancement of mechanical properties of tool steel. Current study deals with finding out how effective is cryogenic processing for enhancing the harndess and impact strength of En8 material as compared to conventional heat treatment process.

A study to understand differential equations applied to aerodynamics using CFD Technique[Full-Text ]
Zoya. A. RizviThe purpose of this paper is to study the methodology involved in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) technique of fluid flow.Computational fluid dynamic results are directly analogous to wind tunnel results obtained in a laboratory they both represent sets of data for given flow configuration at different Mach numbers, Reynold numbers, etc. The cornerstone of computational fluid dynamics is the fundamental governing equations of fluid dynamics i.e. the continuity, momentum and energy equations. These equations speak physics. The purpose of this study is to discuss these equations for aerodynamics. In CFD the fundamental physical principles applied to a model of flow can be expressed in terms of basic mathemati-cal equation which are either Integral equation or partial differential equation. In the world of CFD, the various forms of the equations are of vital interest. In turn, it is important to derive these equations in order to point out their differences and similarities, and to reflect on possible implications in their appli-cation to CFD. An example of application of CFD to aerodynamics is discussed in this paper. Finally, post-processing and interpreting the result com-pletes the methodology.

Heat Generation and temperature in Orthogonal Machining[Full-Text ]
Sandip Manel, Sanjay KumarHeat generation during metal cutting process is of particular importance as it governs machining mechanisam and thus the economy of machining. The high temperature adversely affects the strength, hardness and wears resistance of the cut-ting tool. Excessive heat generation in cutting zone causes dimensional changes in the part being machined and can induce thermal damage to the machined surface. Temperature at tool-chip and tool-workpiece interfaces influences tool wear, tool life and surface integrity. Tool–chip contact length can be a critical parameter in machining as it provides the path for heat flow from the secondary deformation zone into the tool. Therefore, reducing the amount of heat flowing into the cutting tool is of great significance. In all, it is very important to study the heat generation mechanisam, heat partition and temperature distribu-tion in machining processes. The paper reviewed the heat generation and effects and control of temperature rise in metal ma-chining.

Regenerative Braking Systems (RBS)[Full-Text ]
Pratik Bhandari, Shubham Dubey, Sachin Kandu, Rupesh DeshbhratarMost brakes commonly use friction between two surfaces pressed together to convert the kinetic energy of the moving object into heat, though other methods of energy conversion may be employed as all the energy here is being distributed in the form of heat. Regenerative braking converts much of the energy to electrical energy, which may be stored for later use. Driving an automobile involves many braking events, due to which higher energy losses takes place, with greater potential savings. With buses, taxis, delivery vans and so on there is even more potential for economy.
